Arbitration And International Disputes

Krish Maniam & Co maintains an international office is London, United Kingdom that purely specialises in international disputes and arbitration.

Our principal associate is Dr. Rutsel Silvestre Jacinto Martha who is an officer in the Royal Order (The Netherlands). Dr. Rutsel Martha is a Dutch national and former INTERPOL General Counsel and Director of the Directorate of Legal Affairs at INTERPOL’s General Office.

Our firm serves clients globally to respond to the need of contemporary high profile individuals and transnational enterprises, to manage their risks efficiently in an increasingly complex global environment, where dealing with law enforcement issues (compliance, anti-corruption and money laundering, sanctions, organized crime etc.) has become as much a part of the conduct of transnational business. We do so in a cost-efficient manner.

Our clients include former heads of State, former senior government officials, other politically exposed persons, industrialists, companies and business executives facing adversities from governments, International bodies, or business disputes converted into criminal allegations. Typically, clients seek the firm’s assistance with challenging INTERPOL, fighting extradition requests in domestic courts, challenging UN, EU and US sanctions, supporting asylum requests, and opposing mutual legal assistance requests regarding assets-freeze and confiscation or addressing the consequences of inaccurate and negative publications and reporting.

Given that Dr. Rutsel’s vast experience in this area of international disputes and arbitration, he leads our offices in London and purely focuses on this area.

The advantage of international arbitration offers alternatives in terms of enforceability of awards and the neutrality and flexibility of the procedure. It is no surprise that it has become the dispute resolution method of choice for those doing international business. Such disputes are most effectively handled by a firm with an international presence, which will give a thorough, cost effective and personalized resolution to disputes. Using arbitration as an alternative to litigation to resolve disputes can open up a number of opportunities. In addition to the enforcement advantage referred to above, arbitration offers commercial confidentiality not available in a public court and a venue that may be considered neutral by the parties involved. Our firm also uses the required counsels based on the type of arbitration that the parties are involved with, again ensuring the highest probability of success.
